Meet the Authors and Illustrators
Dr. Ray Butrum
Dr. Ray Butrum is a retired educator and administrator from Tennessee who is currently residing in Hobe Sound, Florida. His new book series "Science With Hazel" features a likeness of his 3 year old granddaughter, Hazel, who has Down Syndrome.
Dr. Butrum has his MS, BA and EdS in education from MTSU and EdD from TSU. His hobbies include traveling and spending time with friends and family. Dr. Butrum is currently undergoing treatment and he is attempting to be one of the first people cured of mantle cell lymphoma.
Carole Ann Hausman
Carole Ann Hausman grew up in the rolling hills of Nashville where she developed an appreciation for nature. She started creative writing at a very young age, and was gifted a red plastic typewriter when she was in kindergarten. Twenty years after having a few poems published while she was in college at MTSU, she published her first book, My Dream For You is Happiness. She started Hamer House Publishing in 2013 and specializes in organizational administration. Carole Ann lives in South Florida with her husband, Ryan. She enjoys gardening, spring training baseball and a nice cabernet.
Joanne Raptis
Joanne Raptis was born in New York City but considers the peaceful mountains of Pennsylvania her second home. A self-taught artist, she draws inspiration from nature and positive messages. She is a graduate of Barnard College is currently working on her PhD in Clinical Psychology. She is interested in studying habit change, the connection between physical and psychological wellbeing, and helping others design fulfilling and healthy lives. Joanne spends any free time drawing, dancing, being outdoors, and with her family.
Ada Abigael Aco
Ada Abigael Aco is a talented and experiencedartist who has illustrated over a dozen books and done animation for television and film. Based out of the Phillipines, Ms. Aco is represented worldwide by Lemonade Illustration Agency.
