Surrender to the Creation
Sometimes the creative process gets so tangled up with deadlines and marketing that it feels like something completely separate than creating--because it is.
When I was wrestling with my third book, I took up painting because it helped me just relax and create without having to worry about selling or making it marketable.
The harder I wrestled with the book the more stubborn it became. After a relaxing and rejuvenating vacation in the beautiful artist town of New Orleans, the inspiration that I had been needing for over a year suddenly landed on me like a butterfly.
I simply needed to surrender to the book and let it become what it wanted.
